We don’t quite know what’s around the corner or exactly what restrictions will be in place in Wharfedale & Craven but at Mumbler we like to plan ahead and be organised and we won’t let anything ruin the festive fun!!!
We have listed lots of ideas and things to do to celebrate this Christmas the best way we can.
Fear not. Santa and his elves have been working hard to remain on top of the latest government guidelines. Christmas is far from cancelled!
Send your letter to Santa.
More information will follow about where to send your letters locally and remember to BE GOOD, or you might end up on the naughty list!
Meeting Santa
Santa is having to do things slightly differently this year to ensure his magical visits are COVID safe but he wasn’t going to miss out on his time with the little ones! Click HERE for places to see Santa, pre-booking required.
This popular tradition works wonders to remind children that they need to be on their best behaviour or Father Christmas will find out and it is perfect to do in lockdown. Check out our Mumbler Tried & Tested Elf on the Shelf Ideas for some inspiration!
There are lots of local Christmas Tree retailers to chose from, be it cut your own, pre-cut or potted!
It’s still not confirmed if schools will be allowing Christmas cards to be given out at school this year but that doesn’t mean the kids need to miss out on sending family and friends a card. It’s always lovely to receive an actual Christmas card through the post! There’s still lots of time to get prepared and have the kids make some unique hand made cards to send out. This will also keep the kids busy in the run-up to Christmas and they will be such a welcomed surprise when they drop through someone’s letterbox.
Watch this space for ARTventures latest blog on crafting your own cards & decorations!
We are all missing family who live elsewhere, so why not send them a hug this Christmas! Inside your Christmas card, why not include a ‘hug’. Draw around your child and then have them colour themselves in. Cut them out and post. Christmas cuddles all round!
We all have our own Christmas Traditions, whether they stem from your own childhood or are something new you have started since having kids. Starting a new tradition can bring a family even closer together and will be a lovely way to mark Christmas 2020.
In our house, we have stupidly small stockings over the fireplace for chocolate coins and we have an annual visit to Stephen Smiths at the start of December where the kids each pick one new decoration for the mantelpiece garland. The decorations grow with the children and its a lovely reminder of their younger years!
If you are looking for inspiration for a new tradition to begin here are a few ideas.
It’s more important now than ever to shop local and support our local businesses. With people making fewer shopping trips these days, it’s worth considering starting the Christmas shopping earlier and picking up some stocking fillers as and when you are out and about or adding a few stocking fillers or an extra bottle of wine to your weekly shop. You will feel better prepared if you know you have at least a few bits put aside and it also helps to spread the cost.
We are now spoilt for choice for video calls, whichever platform you use the main thing is that you are communicating, sharing stories, making memories and making sure no one feels alone this Christmas. We have some great ideas of games which can be played virtually with family far and wide here. COVID-19 cannot stop Post-Christmas Dinner games afternoons.
We have put together a list of some of the best free Christmas apps and websites including how to track Santa on Christmas Eve and how to receive a phone or video call from the man himself!
There is nothing better on a dark afternoon during the winter months than a festive film snuggled up on the sofa together. We have come up with a list of our favourite festive family films in case you need a little help getting into the Christmas spirit this year, or if you just want a little inspiration for lovely films to watch with your Mini Mumblers.
You’ve unwrapped the presents, eaten the turkey and watched the annual Christmas film and now it’s Boxing Day. You realise you haven’t left the house for 24 hours and the kids are bouncing off the walls!. It’s time to get up, wrap up and get out. But where to?! Check out this list of Family Walks for Boxing Day
We will be spending New Year’s Eve in our own bubbles this year so grab the bubbles and check out our New Years Eve at Home Party Ideas blog here
Many of the local attractions are open to visitors on New Years Day, keep checking back here for where to book!
