Leeds & Bradford Museums and Galleries have some fantastic family events at several attractions.
Bradford Museums 10th – 18th February 2024
Join us for an exciting February half-term in Bradford! The city’s museums have a range of activities to keep the whole family entertained. Kids can unleash their creativity in the inspiration den building workshop, upcycle their old clothes, embark on a cosmic play sensory experience, and enjoy messy play. Don’t forget to explore the fascinating exhibitions and collections, and visit the gift shop for a souvenir. Head to Bradford Museums this half term for a week of creativity, learning, and fun for the whole family!
Kirkstall Abbey Love Birds Trail 10th – 18th February 2024
A fun trail for families around the abbey, looking for birds of all shapes and sizes, both native and exotic!

Leeds Industrial MuseumBe Curious! – FREE ENTRY 17th February 2024
Meet researchers from the University of Leeds and explore their work through interactive activities.
As part of our Engineery: Building Better Futures exhibition and the Smeaton300 celebrations, Leeds Industrial Museum and Be Curious have joined up to share how John Smeaton’s ideas still pop up in the world around us. Get hands-on with activities that make exploring research super fun. Follow the chocolate trail, practice your engineering skills in mask and hat making, look at planning safe cities for women and explore how engineering shapes fashion, medicine and Artificial Intelligence. Plus, you can take some of these to do at home. Who knows, maybe you’ll be the next big inventor like John Smeaton? Get ready for a day of fun and discovery!
If you pop by on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (13 – 15 February 2024) between 11 am and 2 pm you can join us for some creative crafting activities inspired by our printing collections.
Afterwards, why not head to our 1920s cosy cinema to watch a family-friendly film? Our Mystery Matinees take place in one of the UK’s smallest cinemas, with just 24 seats to be exact!

Abbey House Museum Year of the Dragon: 9 – 18 February 2024
Celebrate Chinese New Year and the Year of the Dragon with our decorated streets inspired by the 12 characters of the Chinese zodiac. Follow the fun family trail through the museum and take part in arts and craft activities. FREE ACTIVITY, Normal admission applies.

Thackray Medical Museum Germs Glorious Germs! Sat, 10 – Sat, 17 February 2024
This Half Term we are exploring how germs can not only be deadly, but also friendly. Our resident Thackray Boffins will look at what germs really are, and what happens when good and bad germs become unbalanced.
To celebrate the good, the bad and the germy, local artist Jenny Wright will be offering drop-in screenprinting sessions! All materials will be provided, alongside aprons for the younger members of the family, though we do suggest wearing something you don’t mind getting messy.

East Riddlesden Hall Half Term connect with nature trail: 10 – 18 February 2024
This February half-term we are encouraging mindfulness in nature. Can you find shapes in the clouds or hear the birds sing? There will be activities to do in the grounds and space to draw what makes you happy in the discovery room.

RHS Harlow CarrWorld on your windowsill: 10-18 February
The Royal Horticultural Society is inviting families to uncover the World On Your Windowsill this February half term, with a week of fun family activities at RHS Garden Harlow Carr.
Create your own herb character and plant it up to take home and grow on your windowsill, join the Garden Detectives on a storytelling adventure learning all about how to grow your own food, or take part in a storytelling yoga session with Enchantica’s Workshop. And of course, you can also have a go on the garden trail.
Visitors will gain inspiration about growing indoors while spending valuable family time together surrounded by nature. RHS Harlow Carr also has dedicated play areas and gardens specifically for children, ensuring a full, fun-packed day out. FREE ACTIVITIES, Admission applies

I Spy has been created with Natural England as part of their One Million Children Outdoors Campaign. Natural England is working on a range of projects to encourage an interest in nature amongst children; helping them to enjoy the natural environment. FREE TRAIL, Admission applies.
Keighley & Worth Valley Railway
Over the February Half-Term Holidays, we will run passenger services on selected days with a mixture of steam engines and heritage diesel. You can turn up on the day or pre-book online.
KIDS GO FREE – Buy a full-price Adult Day Rover, and up to two Children aged 5 – 15 travel completely FREE when travelling together on this special combined ticket; under 5 travel for free as usual.
The Exhibition Shed displays vintage coaches and historic engines. The Carriage Works Museum is one of the finest collections of restored railway carriages and the Engine Shed is full of exhibits and memorabilia of how railways used to be.
