Pork kebabs and cous cous is our new favourite, you can substitute the cous cous for savoury rice or a pitta and pork is cheap at the moment. Add a spicy sauce for Mum & Dad and everyone is happy.
Tuna pasta salad is a favourite in our house! Quick to make and any leftovers can be eaten the next day!
Burgers always go down well, whether it be on the griddle or the BBQ! This is a great child-friendly recipe to get the kids involved.
Homemade pizza is always fun to do with the kids. Picking their own toppings and adding their own sauce and cheese can help kids to feel in control of what they are eating.
Fruit kebabs are fun, colourful, flexible and healthy. My kids love strawberries and raspberries with apple chunks or banana! The beauty of a fruit kebab is you can use what you have in or what the kids will eat!
I’m all for Homemade ice slushies, is it just my kids who beg and beg and beg for a slushy every time they see them when we are out & about and then never finish them if I cave in and buy one? Blue tongued, wired kids is not a great combination either…
Summer trifle always reminds me of being a child at my Grandma’s house so brings back lovely memories. A great sweet for after a BBQ on a long summer evening. Mr Mumbler is not a fan either so all the more for me then!
Eton mess is my ultimate summer dessert, you can reduce the calorie content by swapping the cream for yoghurt and my kids have never noticed the difference! The mini-mumblers also love smashing up the meringue and it’s a great excuse to go strawberry picking at your local PYO!
Lollies are quick and easy to make and I honestly didn’t realise how many options there were!! For my kids who love milk i’ll definitely be trying the strawberry milk lollies! All you need is a lolly maker or a yoghurt pot. Perfect for a hot day!
Quiche is a great tea, served with salad or new potatoes and you are set! The mini-mumblers love broccoli so a salmon and broccoli quiche is always a winner, the beauty of a quiche is you can put in whatever you kids will eat…
Have a fantastic summer!
