Lingerie is considered to be a high priced commodity, so unaffordable to a vast number of women. If a lady is seen to be wearing lingerie then she is considered to be of higher standing and less likely to be abused or raped. The bras are sent to 4 places in Africa and distributed to those ladies who need them.
As the appeal is in partnership with a global textile company, should the bra be unwearable the components are recycled and the material is turned into rags. The money for the weight of rags is then given to various charities, one of these charities is Against Breast Cancer.
If you are still not convinced that it is a good thing to sort through your lingerie drawer and donate your unloved bras to The Fitting Room, then another simple reason is it stops it going to landfill. A win, win all round!
So use this as an excuse to give your underwear drawer a spring clean (and maybe treat yourself to something new!!) and donate any unneeded bras to this great cause.
