St Gemma’s Hospice Treecycling service: The St Gemma’s Hospice Treecycling service will be running again in January 2024. This is a service that is run every year where people in Leeds can request for St Gemma’s to take their old Christmas Tree(s) to a recycling site in return for a donation. In January this year, the Hospice collected over 2,000 trees and raised over £27,000 for patient care!
So why not take the hassle out of the post-Christmas clear up, all while supporting St Gemma’s Hospice! Simply register your tree, make a donation and the Hospice’s fantastic Treecycling volunteers will come and collect your tree to be recycled between 9th – 13th January 2024.

Council Household Waste recycling centres for both Leeds & Bradford council are open throughout most of the festive period except Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day.

The Leeds City Council amended refuse collection times for 2023 are detailed below.
So no-one misses out on a collection, collection days will change from Christmas Eve (Sunday, 24 December), with those scheduled for Christmas Day being made a day early.
Collections will then take place a day later than usual from Tuesday, 26 December until Sunday, 7 January, returning to normal from Monday, 8 January.
