October Half Term Family Fun at RHS Harlow Carr

Have an awesome autumn at RHS Garden Harlow Carr during half term
Families can enjoy the glorious colours of autumn at Harlow Carr during October half term (Saturday 26 October – Sunday 3 November 2019). Follow a daily autumn trail around the garden, enjoy autumnal crafts, outdoor workshops, bulb planting and seasonal storytelling with the Garden Detectives. From Monday to Friday, come face to face with mini beasts, from lounging lizards, supersized snails and giant millipedes to creepy cockroaches and terrifying tarantulas. On Sunday 3 November, specially trained bird ringers from the British Trust for Ornithology will identify, ring and record the birds that call Harlow Carr home, and visitors can learn how to attract birds to your own garden. Harrogate Indoor Funfair
26th October – 3rd November 2019, Sessions 10am-1pm & 2-5pm
The Yorkshire Event Centre will be transformed into an indoor funfair ensuring that whatever the weather it won’t ruin your plans.
You can expect to find your favourites including Dodgems, Waltzers and the Mini Miami as well as our Inflatable Play Centre and more! The prize-winning games stalls will return once again (extra charges apply) including Hook a Duck and Whack a Minion!
The session times for October Half Term are 26th October to 3rd November, open daily with two sessions running each day, 10-1 pm and 2-5 pm. Tickets are available to purchase for £10pp (under 2’s free) as well as non-rider tickets for £2. As the ticket suggests – you can’t ride with a non-rider ticket. If you book ahead on-line you can buy 4 * riding wrist bands for £35.

Farmageddon Half Term at The National Science & Media Museum
26th October – 3rd November 2019
This October half term, flock to the museum for fantastic family activities inspired by A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon. See the brand new film on the big screen, make character models with the help of experts from Aardman, see sets and props, and learn behind-the-scenes tips and tricks!
Film tickets will be available from Friday 4 October—watch this space for more details.
Model Making Workshop:Join this hour-long workshop to create and take home your very own clay model of a Farmageddon character. You’ll spend an hour with an expert from Aardman Studios, who will take you through the step-by-step process of making a model of either Shaun, LU-LA or Bitzer.This activity is suitable for children aged 7+. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Half Term Whale Trail at Leeds City Museum
26th October – 4th November 2019,
If you fancy something a little less spooky then head to Leeds City Museum and celebrate the return of their pilot whale! Take the FREE Family Whale Trail around the museum, and discover the story of our new Pilot Whale skeleton. Have a whale of a time with underwater-themed crafts, making your own junk jellyfish to take home and join the family. Make a splash on their whale trail and get close to nature during the half-term holidays.

Where’s Wally? The Big Museum Hunt at Leeds City Museum

Walker Books and Kids in Museums have joined together to celebrate the release of the new Where’s Wally? book, Where’s Wally? The Big Museum Hunt this October half term.
At Leeds City Museum we have hidden 10 mini Wally’s and we need your help to find them. Simply pick up an activity pack to get started and get hunting!
You’ve got four floors and six galleries to hunt high and low for all 10 Wally’s, then when you’ve found them you’ll receive an ‘I found Wally’ sticker.
Also make sure you enter the Where’s Wally and Kids in Museums grand prize draw competition to win an Art Fund Family Membership and Where’s Wally goodies!
Where’s Wally? The Big Museum Hunt has been inspired by the new book, Where’s Wally? Double Trouble at the Museum. The book will be available in our shop to buy throughout October half term, it’s a brilliant early stocking filler and a great way to keep the kids entertained throughout the holidays!
