The festival kicks off at midday on Saturday 8 June with the energetic and spectacular Swank Theatre featuring walk-about characters, The Adjudicators. The impeccably dressed sports-day adjudicators will keep all fun and games in order with their razor-sharp wit and quick horse racing style of commentary on passers-by.
Highlights across the weekend include:
- Absurdly athletic stilt walking characters, 80’s PE teachers, Mr Stretch and Mr Armstrong, Sports Guides bursting with knowledge, history and statistics, and a penny farthing racer who is yet to actually win a race but is convinced he can smell his victory just around the corner.
- Natural Theatre Company add to the fun with their bold, quirky, ‘instagrammable ’characters
- American Street circus performer George Orange performs “Man on the Moon” on a slack rope rig that rocks and rolls like a crescent moon at Victoria Gardens.
- Family favourite Zest Theatre present First Person – a quirky fusion of fast-paced performance using silent disco technology on City Square
- Leeds Samba performs across the City Centre bringing the sights and sounds of UK-Brazilian samba to the audiences at the triathlon.
- The talented Punjabi Roots Academy will light up the crowds with colourful Punjabi dance and music.
- Bureau Of Silly ideas invites pairs to Race Against the Water Pistol with Shirt or Squirt on Victoria Square.
The festival is FREE to attend and takes place from Saturday 8 – Sunday 9 June 2019, 12pm-6pm.
