We’ve been researching Leeds fundraising events that the whole family can get involved in together during 2019 and we thought you might find something that might interest you. Some of the events we’ve found have height and age restrictions, so make sure you check the full details if you are thinking about taking part as a family.
We’re aware this is by no means an exhaustive list of family charity events in Leeds this year so if you run or are involved in a charity event please send us the details and we’ll add them to the events calendar.
Date: 1st – 31st March 2019
Venue: Leeds
Details: Complete the length of a marathon – 26.2 miles – across the month of March. You could walk, swim, cycle, or you could even get creative with how you make up your miles!

Date: 23rd March 2019
Venue: City Centre
Details: Abseil from the CLV building in Arena Village in Leeds city centre, formerly known as the Opal Tower, which is a whopping 300 feet high – the third highest building in all of Leeds and one of the tallest buildings in the North of England!
Fancy dress is optional, but this is a fantastic opportunity to be as creative as you like and join in the fun.

Venue: Local swimming pool
Details: Complete the 21 miles across the Channel by swimming the distance in your local pool in 12 weeks or less. It’s free to register so if you’re an experienced swimmer or are looking to improve, this is a great way to work towards a goal whilst supporting a fantastic cause.

Venue: Temple Newsam
Details: Take part in the Seriously Fun 5k run over 10 giant inflatable obstacles, you will run jump and bounce your way around the course. You can run on your own, part of a team or for Gung-Ho’s national charity partner BBC Children in Need.
Participants must be at least 1.22m and children under 11 must be accompanied by a participating adult.

Venue: Harewood House
Details: The Leeds Bubble Rush is not your average 5k fun run; at every kilometre point there’ll be a Bubble Station where high-powered foam cannons will be blowing out 30 cubic metres a minute of frothy colourful bubbles making a 4ft bubble wall!
The run is open to everyone. Under 5’s are FREE and do not receive a t-shirt.

Venue: Roundhay Park
Details: Now in its twelfth year, the Dragon Boat Race is a unique corporate or group team-building event and family fun day that helps to support hundreds of children and young people across the region.
Restrictions apply: You must be at least 16 years old. 16 and 17-year-olds will need written permission from a parent/guardian. You must also be able to swim 50 metres.

Venue: Ingleborough climb, part of the Yorkshire 3 Peaks
Details: Take on the legendary Ingleborough climb, part of the Yorkshire 3 Peaks as a family. The walk is approximately 10 miles (17km) and the ascent is 661m. Your support and fundraising will help disabled children and their families in Yorkshire.
Age limit: Under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult. Recommended age 8 years and up, but children can climb from 6 years old.

Venue: Leeds City Centre
Details: Abseiling is a fantastic challenge suitable for everyone, with no previous experience or skills required. Abseil your way down the 100ft Portland Building and help raise vital funds for the CHSF.

Date: 21st – 23rd June 2019
Venue: Bramham Park
Details: Total Warrior is bringing 25 punishing obstacles and 10 mini ones for the Junior, to the magnificent Braham Park in June! Junior Warrior is aimed at 6-13 years. Junior Warriors aged 6 and 7 must be accompanied by an adult.
Take part for various Leeds charities, we would recommend you check with your chosen charity if they are participating in the event.

Venue: Temple Newsam
Details: Run, jog or walk around the superhero-themed Kapow! Obstacle Course! Take on 10 inflatable obstacles, starting with a 4m high climb, then bash your way through the inflatable pole section, stop off for a quick bath in the foam pit, crawl through 10-meter long inflatable tunnels and after you’ve escaped the maze, it’s time to take on the 3m inflatable wall.
All entrants under 16 must be over 1.2m and each group of 6 children must be accompanied by at least two adults.

Date: 20th July 2019
Venue: Horton-In-Ribblesdale, Settle, BD24 0HB
Details: Starting at 7am, you can expect to take on six miles of hills, descents and stunning countryside as you make your way up this well known peak.
All ages are welcome, though children under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Successful walkers will receive a certificate of completion.
