Visiting with your family
Over the summer, bring your family to the Institute to join in our free activities and workshops which get everyone looking, thinking and making.
Younger visitors to the exhibition can borrow an Explorer Bag, filled with objects and activities that respond to The Weight of Words exhibition.
Get creative with origami boat making, create your own sculptural poem and hunt for details in the work on display,.
THE WEIGHT OF WORDS Family workshops
Bring your family for three special workshops over the summer holidays. These are intergenerational events – we encouraging creativity in all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the workshops.
Weaving Words

Join artist Mia Mai Symonds to play with words and fabric to remix t shirts. Use fabric pens to create your own slogans and poetry then hack them up to make a woven artwork.
