Ceremony of the King’s Champion – Saturday 6 May | 14:00
Our armoured knights will parade around Leeds Dock on horseback, in a one-off recreation of the Ceremony of the King’s Champion, unseen since 1821.
Crown Jewels – Daily
We’re bringing some sparkle to this weekend’s coronation celebrations with a stunning set of replica Crown Jewels from the Tower of London. These highly realistic replicas were made in honour of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, and were displayed across the world. They have been in the Royal Armouries’ collection since the 1970s.
Visitors will be able to get up close to a variety of items in the display, including reproductions of St Edward’s Crown and Queen Mary’s Crown; the real versions will be used in the coronation ceremony. There will also be the opportunity to try on a replica crown for a great photo opportunity.
Make & Take Craft Activities – Daily 10:00 – 16:00 | Decorate your own crown. Wear your crown and join the parade of the King’s Champion at 14:00 on Coronation day.
Fit for a King – A new competition to design a modern armour suitable for a modern monarch. See below
