Jul 16 @ 10:00 am – Jul 17 @ 4:00 pm
This is a fund raising event for Otley Rotary Club with Steampunk traders with free daytime entertainment.
What is Steampunk? It’s a sub-genre of science fiction or science fantasy that incorporates technology and aesthetic designs inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery. Steampunk works are often set in an alternative history of the 19th-century’s British Victorian era or American Wild West.
Steampunk technology may include fictional machines like those found in the works of HG Wells and Jules Verne. Examples of steampunk contain alternative-history-style presentations of such technology as steam cannons, lighter-than-air airships, analogue computers, or such digital mechanical computers as Charles Babbage’s analytical engine.
So expect to see splendidly dressed Victorian/Edwardian ladies and gentlemen with their amazing steampunk accessories and steampunk vehicles.
Venues are Otley Methodist Church, Wesley Hall, Walkergate, LS21 1HB and the Labour Club on Nelson Street/Walkergate. There’s a free car park opposite the church and the Labour Club.
