Scarecrow Trail and Competition

Kindly sponsored by Ribston Pippin
The annual Scarecrow Competition this year is themed ‘1980s’ – this was chosen by you in suggestions made and voted on in February. So many ideas – Back to the Future, Ian Botham, Torvill and Dean, and of course the colourful clothes in wild styles!
Watch out for the Scarecrow at 7, Long Meadows. This year the Summer Festival has sponsored this scarecrow – it will not be in the vote.
The Scarecrow Competition will again be open to residents, businesses and village organisations.
The categories for 2017 will be: Traditional scarecrows
Business/organisation entries.
Judging will go on through the week and will be carried out by the participating public.
There will be three prizes: £25 for the winner in the traditional scarecrows category.
£10 for the winner of the prize draw for those entering their public judging trail forms (the winner will be picked from the prize draw at the Scarecrow Prize Giving event)
A cup for the winning business/organisation
Please have your scarecrows on display by 6pm on Friday August 18th

Cost: No cost for scarecrow entries. £1 for Scarecrow Trail judging forms – available during the Festival from the Roundhouse and from the Red Lion.
Booking: Scarecrow entry forms can be downloaded from the website, or collected from the Library or The Red Lion, or by contacting Burleyscarecrows@gmail.com(01943 512015 ).
NB – your entry forms need to be in by Wednesday 9th August

Have a go with family and friends at completing this year’s Treasure Hunt, the 8th to be devised by Janet Ault. You can pick up the list of clues from the Festival office in the Roundhouse during the week and complete the Treasure Hunt at your leisure. Hand in by September 9th.
