Join us for a celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths!

The Secret World of Gases

We’ll be running our Secret World of Gases 30 minute shows regularly all weekend, where we will engage, inspire and involve children with the amazing stories and science of gases and discover how gases will be used in the future. Find out how cold liquid nitrogen is, how air can become a liquid and explore how hydrogen could power our future, heat our homes and run our buses.

University of York Psychology Department – Saturday & Sunday
Experience some weird and wonderful illusions, goggles that let you simulate sight loss and drop into a virtual reality with researchers from the University of York’s Psychology Department.

University of Leeds Psychology Department – Saturday & Sunday
Do you know how much a portion of food should be? Researchers from the University of Leeds’ Psychology Department are investigating what we think are appropriate portions of food and how packaging can affect our decisions and they need your help!

Engineering Hack Camp – Saturday only
Come and discover the world of engineering with the Engineering Hack Camp. Funded by the Royal Society of Engineers, the Hack Camp has created some hands-on activities to show how engineering can help solve the problems of the future.

University of Manchester Institute of Biotechnology – Sunday only
Join Dr Hazel Girvan from the University of Manchester and discover all about the wonderful world of enzymes, what they are and what they do with some hands-on experiments.
