1. Enjoy a Romantic Meal
Why not enjoy a romantic meal in, once the kids are in bed? Take a night off from cooking and order a hot meal to be safely delivered to your door. We’ve listed all the companies delivering cooked food here.
Why not pretend you are in a restaurant and set the table, light some candles, get some good tunes on, open the wine and enjoy!
2. A Homemade Pamper Night
An at-home pamper or spa night might not be quite the same as the real thing, but it will certainly be cheaper! It is also a great excuse (if you needed one!) to get into your dressing gown and slippers early!
You could try making your own homemade beauty treatments and enjoy a relaxing facial mask or conditioning hair treatment from ingredients you already have in the kitchen.
3. Go to the Theatre
Get dressed up in your best attire, and sample a night at the theatre! National Theatre Live and Andrew Lloyd Webber are providing the opportunity to view a range of popular performances. Each show is on for a limited time and you are encouraged to support the arts with a donation, where possible.
It is a brilliant way to try some shows you may not have thought to check out before.
4. Enjoy a Pub Quiz at home
Again not quite the same as going out but you can still enjoy a quiz and even compete against each other…whilst having a beer! There are lots of live quizzes happening all the time – we’ve listed a few below.
The Virtual Pub Quiz host themed quizzes all week on YouTube
Eventures host themed quizzes every Friday night to entertain the nation and raise money for charity on their Facebook and YouTube page.
Codswallop CIC host a weekly Saturday night quiz
5. Enjoy Memories Together
Take the time to sit down together and go through old holiday photos or videos or perhaps your wedding photos.
Put on some music that reminds you of a certain holiday you spend together. Recreate that dream holiday cocktail or dessert you remember!
6. Games Night
Not just for the kids, why not have your own games night! Dig out all your favourite board games or card games and have a competition together!
You could even try and learn a new card game or two.
Open some wine, get the snacks lined up and get playing!
7. Food or Wine Tasting Night
Support a local business by ordering some of their delicious products and then enjoy sampling them virtually with others and learning more about what you are tasting.
Love Cheese York host beer or wine and cheese tasting nights online. Find out more on their Facebook page.
Brew York host live tastings of their beers over on their Facebook page.
Or you could create your own tasting night – it doesn’t have to be anything fancy, it could be all the crisp flavours, different types of chocolate or biscuits! Taste them, rate them and rank them!
8. Travel Inspired Meal
Pick a place you really want to travel too, or have travelled to and cook a meal together inspired by that country. It doesn’t have to be complicated…
From a French-themed cheese and wine platter to a Greek meze feast or a homemade pizza to a Mexican nachos tray!
9. Visit a Museum Online
Following on from a travel-inspired meal or going through old holiday photos, why not virtually visit somewhere in the world! There are LOADs of online tours available, and yes again, not as good as the real thing, but still good fun and a good opportunity to plan your next holiday!
You can easily travel the world from the Guggenheim Museum New York to the Musee Dorsay Paris or the Vatican Museum.
We also have a brilliant list of online tours that we’ve found here.
10. Create your ultimate bucket date list
Come up with ideas together for your ultimate date night bucket list. Everywhere you want to eat, places you want to travel, experiences you want to have together or things you want to learn.
Even if you never get to do them all, it will certainly be fun talking and dreaming about them.
We hope we’ve given you some good ideas to have a great night in… and if all else fails, there is still plenty to watch on the TV!
