There will be a prize of a £20 e-voucher for the winner of each of the following categories:
Primary Age (five to 10 years old)
Teenage (11 to 17 years old)
Adult (18 years old and over)
A list of commended poems will be selected for each category, too, and all winning and commended poems will be published in Otley Matters and a pamphlet available to the general public.
Matthew would like entrants to explore the theme as freely as they like, looking at new life and moving on. Entries can be experimental, focus solely on nature or take into consideration universal subjects – provided they adhere to the rules below.
Matthew will be uploading a mini-workshop to his Town Poet blog from Sunday 5th April for anyone who hasn’t written poetry before:

Rules
The competition is FREE TO ENTER
The competition is only open to people with an Otley postcode
Only submit ONE POEM of no more than ten lines
The competition is open to submissions from 12.01am Thursday 9th April to 12 midnight Saturday 11th April
All poems must be written in English
Poems must be unpublished and must not have been entered in another competition
Please submit your poems electronically via email in a Word Document or PDF using a 12pt font – postal submissions will not be considered
Please give the file name YOUR NAME, AGE, POSTCODE, e.g. Billy Shakespeare_LS21 3LD_Age 45
Please include your contact details in the body of the email, including a telephone number

You can enter a poem on behalf of someone who cannot use a computer or doesn’t have an email address
Alterations to poems cannot be made once they are submitted
Any poems that do not adhere to the above rules will not be eligible for the competition
