Bert’s Barrow is a small family run farm in Hillam, selling fresh fruit and vegetables, eggs and local produce. They have a lovely courtyard area with tables where you can sit and enjoy a coffee or ice cream. There are pedal tractors to keep the kids entertained as well as goats, chickens and horses to see.

During late June and throughout July you may wish to visit the South terrace of Gledstone Gardens to pick some strawberries.
The first thing that will strike you is that the strawberries are not grown on the ground but on ‘table tops’, which means no back bending, stained knees, slugs on your fruit. Just beautiful fresh fruit at waist height.

This pick your own concentrates on strawberries and raspberries, with a number of varieties of each to enable as long a picking season as possible for our customers. Generally, picking starts in early June and finishes in early August, but is weather dependent.
