St. Patrick’s Day Scavenger Hunt
A few options for Scavenger Hunts!
- For younger children, ask them to find Green items around the home
- Hide gold (chocolate) coins around the house and garden- your children must be the leprechauns and find the gold!
- Photo scavenger hunts; children must take photos of something green/ something with a rainbow/ something gold/ a leaf.
Host an Irish Quiz
If you have older children, why not design a quiz based on all things Ireland?! (Or better yet wait until they go to bed and enjoy one on zoom with your friends). How about these 5 rounds?
- Picture round- famous Irish Landmarks or famous faces
- Music Round- Song name and artist of famous Irish musicians
- Geography- questions based on towns, cities and landmarks in Ireland. For children, this could be presented as ‘Fill in the Gaps’ style questions.
- Translation round- Match Gaelic phrases with their English translation (you could cut or copy these)
- Film Round- give clues about Films based in Ireland
St. Patrick’s Day Family Party Games
- Pin the 4 Leaf Clover on the Leprauchaun: Download from this blog on Over The Big Moon
- Pot O’Gold coin toss
- For babies and toddlers, create a St. Patrick’s Day sensory tuff tray
- Sweetie sort. Grab a few bags of skittles, smarties, jelly babies or other sweets which include green ones! Share them out equally in piles in front of each player. Use either a straw or chopsticks to pick out the green sweets. First one to finish wins!
Enjoy some Irish Music
As a teenager of the 90s, my Irish playlist would consist almost completely of Boyzone with a bit of Bewitched chucked in for good measure! No doubt there will be some good choices of St Patrick’s Day Music on Spotify!
Enjoy an Irish Meal
If you don’t fancy eating all greens, why not enjoy some traditional Irish grub instead? How about these ideas?
Get the children to bed and celebrate properly
In case you’re wondering, yes that will involve alcohol!
