Otley Snowman Trail: Only £1 per booklet! Saturday, December 1st to Saturday 22nd December 2018.
SNOWMEN of all shapes and sizes have invaded Otley again this year. The Snowmen will be located in the town centre and in people’s homes and gardens. Pick up a booklet from various locations in town. Full details can be found here
Santa Floats: There are numerous Santa Floats out on patrol in Wharfedale. You can find all the details on our events calendar here
Bolton Abbey: A Christmas Countdown. Stroll through a wintery Strid Wood and spot the wooden Christmas trees dotted along the trail. Each Christmas tree has a number of oversized advent calendar doors waiting to be opened….Free event but estate admission charges apply. More details here.
Enjoy the FREE Christmas Nativity at Bolton Abbey on Saturday 15th December 2018. Performances start at 11 am and 1:30 pm

Otley: 12th December – 15th December 2018
Charities or communities have been invited to decorate a tree each. Each tree will have a collecting bucket and all donations collected will stay with that group for them to use in their good work in our local community.
The Royal Armouries, Leeds: Free entry to the Royal Armouries including the free River taxi outside! They have the Legends: King Arthur at the Royal Armouries event 29th December – 31st December: 10 am – 5:00 pm. Full details found here
Lotherton Woodland Walk
Lotherton Hall: For this year’s popular festival, there is more magic, more excitement, and Christmas on a bigger scale. Visit the Elf Village, meet Santa in the North Pole. Enjoy the magical Twelve Days of Christmas walk, discover the fairies’ secret hideaway or head to the house for a taste of Edwardian Christmas complete with Edwardian selfie studio. RHS Harlow Carr: Free Children’s garden adventure at RHS Garden Harlow Carr throughout the winter months. Get in the festive spirit on the Christmas trail and enter the Design a Christmas Jumper competition. Additional activities available at the learning centre differ each day. Admission charges to the garden apply.
Enjoy the garden in a different light with the NEW GLOW Winter Illuminations. Thursday – Saturdays 3-8pm (reduced entry rates to the garden after 3 pm) Full details here

Abbey House Museum: Santa’s Little Helpers 18th – 21st December 2018, Festive fun craft activities for the under 5s. Drop-in event, no booking required. Suitable for babies and toddlers. Normal admission applies. Craft activities & Christmas activities and Santas Grotto (£4.50 per child, includes present).
The Tetley: Free drop in at one of the various Family Art Workshops at The Tetley during December. All events can be found on the events calendar.

Ilkley Cinema: Every Saturday morning at 10.30am we have a special Kids Club film which is suitable for our younger audience and accompanying grown-ups alike. All tickets are £6.75.

Christmas at Cliffe Castle: A day of festive fun at Cliffe Castle Museum and Park. There will be fun and entertainment inside and out for all to enjoy! 9th & 15th December 2018.
Craft Cafe: FREE crafts for children at Skipton Town Hall. 2nd & 9th December 2018.

We live in such a beautiful area and are spoilt for choice when it comes to parks, gardens & nature reserves. All free to enjoy. Have a walk or a bike ride…
Make it more exciting with nature bingo, a scavenger hunt or doing some leaf rubbings – Lots of free ideas available with a quick internet search.

Rainy Day (or dare I say snow??) Ideas For At Home:
Board Games /Jigsaws – Dig out some board games or jigsaws and enjoy some old-fashioned fun.
DIY Pamper/Spa Day – Foot soak, face masks, nail painting, cucumbers on the eyes, hand massage, what a treat!!
Corn Flour and Water Slime- it’s so easy, just use twice as much cornflour as water and add a bit of food colouring! Hours of fun!
Scrap Booking – With so much going on in and around Wharfedale & Craven this Christmas, there will be plenty for your little ones to put in a School Holiday Scrapbook. Keep leaflets/tickets etc for them to stick in, photos, maps & drawings, should keep them busy a while!
Olympics – With sports days done, the Mini Mumblers will be well used to sporting contests, so set up a mini Olympics. Obstacle courses, egg and spoon races, balls in buckets, the list goes on.
Pizza Making – Fun and gets a meal sorted at the same time. Either make your own base or buy ready made/pitta bread for a quick option.
Origami – Lots of patterns/instructions available online for free. Patience required!
Junk Modelling – Empty the recycling box and get creative. Space rockets, robots, wherever your imagination takes you!
Make dough – Use the recipe from The Imagination Tree to make some quick and easy dough.
