From the start of your first fostering placement, your children can help a new foster child settle in, show them where things are, and explain how things work in your family.
Our foster carers tell us they make sure that their childrens’ involvement is recognised and appreciated from the very beginning. Also that when deciding to foster, involving them in those decisions was really important – discussing what type of fostering is planned, or what ages the children may be.
This all helped to make their family’s fostering journey so much better!
Together as a family, you can create your own memories and make a real a difference to children’s lives. Foster carer’s daughter Ellie agrees: ‘My mum has looked after lots of different children, it’s something I always look back on with really fond memories and feel so very proud to have been a part of.’
