WEANING WORKSHOP & AN INTRODUCTION TO MESSY PLAY
Here at Messy Monkeys, we know how important messy play can be to a baby/child’s relationship with food, and to the weaning process. We have heard from parents first hand how their child’s often challenging relationship with food has improved after attending our messy play sessions. We also know how daunting it can be for parents with young babies as their baby begins to make that transition from breast/bottle to the gradual introduction of solid foods.
Our weaning workshops have been specially designed to bring together the two elements, weaning and messy play – but don’t worry we won’t be covering your baby in paint and glitter – not at our weaning workshops anyway!!!!!!!
Our short 4-week workshops will focus on different elements of ‘Messy Play’ which will aid and benefit your baby upon the introduction of solid foods.
Texture, Colour, Temperature and Size and Shape are all elements related to weaning which your baby may not have experienced before.
The sessions are kept very small, with no more than 8 babies, to ensure that the workshop is a calm, relaxed and gentle experience for both parent and baby. You will be able to spend time investigating the experiences with your baby whilst meeting and exchanging thoughts and advice with other parents, carers and members of the Messy Monkeys Harrogate and Craven team ( both parents themselves with an extensive baby and childcare experience and training )
We will be introducing only edible messy play experiences in our workshops, keeping in mind your little one’s tummies!!!
The Nhs advice for parents is to introduce solid foods from 6 months of age but as often is the case this process is baby led and can happen any time from 4 months of age.
The workshops are designed for babies who are beginning to show an interest in other people’s food/starting to chew their fists/demanding extra milk feeds as they head towards their weaning journey!
