We’re delighted to announce that Leeds Waterfront Festival (LWF) is back!
The largest waterway festival in the north will be bigger than ever with a summer-long celebration that will showcase the city’s waterfront and South Bank area. Events and activities for all ages to enjoy are organised by us, Leeds City Council, Leeds Dock, The Tetley, Citu, The Royal Armouries Brewery Wharf and Granary Wharf.
The launch weekend takes place Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th June, with a packed programme of events at Granary Wharf, Brewery Wharf and Leeds Dock.
At Granary Wharf, we are hosting free, drop-in activities 10am-4pm. Sign up to activities from 10am on the day, arrive early to avoid disappointment. Here are some of the exciting activities that we have planned for you:
Canoeing Taster Sessions (26th & 27th June, 11-4)Join Canal & River Trust and try out some canoeing. These sessions are for all ages and experience levels, especially suitable for beginners. Arts & crafts for children too small to fit in the lifejackets will be fully staffed and available right next to the session, so bring the whole family along!
🚶♀ Time-Travelling Family Walks 🚶♂ (26th & 27th June, 11am, 1pm & 3pm)
Calling all time-travelling families of Leeds! The future of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal is under threat from the sinister Future Planner! In this interactive theatrical journey you will travel through space and time with our charismatic professor to find out what makes the canal so special! You will meet a whole host of crazy characters and take part in some seriously silly activities before journeying back to the present and taking part in the ultimate face-off with the Future Planner himself! Rusticus Arts have had ten brilliant years of creating open-air family-friendly immersive adventures that place audiences at the centre of the story. If you are a family who love an adventure, then come and join Rusticus with Canal & River Trust on the Time Travellers Adventure – and don’t forget your imaginations!
Art & Henna for teens (26th & 27th June, 11-3) Join Canal & River Trust and Hamara for fun, friendly and enjoyable art and henna workshops – A fun-filled, free artistic session for those interested or new to Art. Art is for everyone and we want everyone to experience it as a positive outlet. We believe in learning by doing and creating the right atmosphere and instilling the confidence for people to have a go.
