Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) Dyspraxia: Free educational talk

May 21, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free educational talk on Thursday 21st May 7-9 pm

Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) Dyspraxia.

This is a fantastic opportunity to hear from Heather Angilley – Paediatric Physiotherapist who has over 30 years of experience in treating children with neurological & neuromuscular conditions and is a national leader in the field of Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) previously known as Dyspraxia.

DCD is a life-long condition, children are often undiagnosed and characterised instead as ‘clumsy’ or ‘awkward’. Evidence indicates that, left untreated these children are more likely to underperform at school and have mental health problems.

These are some of the most common problems that a child with DCD may exhibit:

• Frequent falls/coordination and fine dexterity
• Drawing and handwriting are slow to develop
• Behavioural/attention/memory problems
• Low self-esteem, avoids making friends
• Finds it difficult to remember and follow instructions

Learn more about DCD and how Physiotherapy can help alleviate the problems, help diagnose and highlight the need for ongoing support to education authorities.

The event will run at Leeds Neurophysiotherapy, 6 Over Lane, Rawdon, Leeds, LS19 6DY
