December 2, 2017

Burley Christmas Market and Lights Switch-On 2017
Hosted by Burley and District Chamber of Trade – BADCOT

Saturday, December 2
Main Street and Grange Park, Burley-in-Wh arfedale, near Ilkley, LS29 7ND

NOWHERE will you find more festive cheer than in Burley-in-Wharfedale on the afternoon of its Christmas Market and Lights Switch-On!
This special event is loved by thousands of locals and visitors, who come back year after year to shop, drink, eat and be merry with friends and family in an unbeatable atmosphere.

Gifts and Gourmet
Visitors to this lovely Wharfedale village will be greeted by lines of stalls on Main Street and in the adjacent Grange Park selling unique toys and gifts normally unavailable in the high street. And yet more beautifully hand-crafted items – from jewelry to paintings – will be available at the Craft Fair inside Queen’s Hall, also on Main Street from 1.30pm.

There’ll be a wide range of food at the market – artisan cheeses, meats and confectionery for the Big Day, as well as delicious fare to eat there and then. Mulled wine will be just one of the many drinks on offer up and down the street, as people relax and get into the swing of this fun event, run for the last 15 years by BADCOT, the Burley and District Chamber of Trade.

Magic day out
But Burley-in-Wharfedale’s Christmas afternoon is not all about shopping, which is why families love it. The market boasts performances by a number of choirs and bands, popular fairground rides, a visit from Father Christmas, and for the second year, a talented magician who really wows the crowds.
If that wasn’t enough – at 4.30pm, Burley-in-Wharfedale lights up with a dazzling array of sparkling Christmas designs as far as the eye can see, some created by children from local schools.

Organised by the Burley Community Trust, the village’s lights have been lauded up and down the valley and were described by the Lord Mayor of Bradford last year as among the best he’d ever seen.
