After the success of the first-ever Baby Week Bradford last year – and building on the success of neighbours Baby Week Leeds – Better Start Bradford and partners are delighted to present the sequel, running from 4-10 November 2019.
This year there are over 40 free events taking place for babies, families and anyone supporting them through the earliest years.
The week will get underway on Monday 4 November 2019 from 9.00am-2.30pm at the Mercure Bradford Bankfield Hotel at a special baby-friendly launch event. There will be a series of film documentaries, a performance of Brenda’s Got a Baby from the Bloomin’ Buds Theatre Company, a ‘flash poetry’ workshop courtesy of Bradford Literature Festival plus an interactive storytime. There will also be an exhibition of support services on offer to babies and families across the district. If you are interested in attending, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Other events for families include messy play sessions, story and rhyme times, outdoor play and a wetland walk, plus there are two events aimed specifically at dads and dads-to-be. For the early years workforce there’s infant mental health awareness training, a birth story café, ‘teaching men about birth’ with midwife Mark Harris (author of Birthing for Blokes) and a continuity of carer event for student midwives, midwives and volunteer doulas.
Brand new for this year are two very special baby raves taking place in the Wonderlab at the National Science and Media Museum, featuring the amazing BoomChikkaBoom! These are aimed at families with babies and children aged up to four and take place on:
In addition to the public activities, every baby born in the district during Baby Week Bradford will receive a special certificate, and there will be lots of other things going on behind the scenes to celebrate babies in Bradford and beyond.
