If you’re wanting to treat the Dads in your life this weekend to a family day out, there are quite a few places running Father’s Day specials. We have picked our Top 7 ideas below.
1. The Yorkshire Post Motor Show and Classic Car Rally 2019 at Harewood House
Visitors will be treated to a packed programme of entertainment, headlined by stunt motorcycle display team, Broke FMX. There will also be a funfair for children, petting farm and street food stands celebrating Yorkshire’s finest ingredients, as well as flavours from around the world.
The day is free to Harewood members to enjoy, however, please note that additional activities are not covered by your membership and additional charges may apply.

2. Dadtastic Day, Millenium Square, Leeds
Sunday 16 June 2019 from 11am – 3pm
The event is organised by Leeds Dads, in partnership with Child-Friendly Leeds, Leeds City Museum, Leeds Inspired and LCCT (Leeds Christian Community Trust). The day is for babies, toddlers and children up to 11 years old and offers a great opportunity for parents, carers and grandparents to interact with their children.
The day’s activities will include music, dance, science, storytelling, arts and crafts, and sport. Children can learn to dance with Phoenix Dance, upcycle vinyl and turn old records into art, jump and shout at the BoomChikkaBoom baby rave, and meet their favourite fairy tale story characters. There will also be fun outdoors with Pop-Up Sport and inclusive sports such as Wheelchair Tennis and Boccia on Millennium Square and Leeds Mobile Library will be running story sessions and creating giant bubbles. Artistic youngsters can create crazy carnival headpieces, get into a play fight with Lego dad-bots or learn how to create hair fashion with Leeds’ White Rose Beauty College. For children into tech, learn how to build ‘Squishy Circuits’, send and receive secret messages and explore Litcraft and Sphero tech.
3. Fathers for a Fiver (Father’s Day Special) at Kirklees Light Railway
Treat Dad this Father’s Day with an all day rover ticket for him for just £5. The ticket for Dad will be valid all day on all trains, so you can make it a memorable family trip!

Treat dad to a special day out and make a bird feeder together at East Riddlesden Hall. Spend some time with dad this Father’s Day and work together to make a fat ball bird feeder. You also can spot birds together from the bird hide too, use the spotter sheets to see how many different types of hungry birds are joining us today.
This event is free, but normal admission charges apply for the venue. Booking not needed. National Trust Members free admission. This activity is suitable for the whole family.
You can also walk the grounds & gardens, enjoy the Natural play area full of exciting equipment for you to burn off some energy on, including a slide, swings and a wooden climbing frame, look out for bugs and squirrels in the Wild Play garden. There’s a Hobbit House for hiding in, a log for balancing on, a new natural weaving frame, a den building area and the best mud pie kitchen in the National Trust.

5. Wartime Weekend at Lotherton Hall
Enjoy Father’s Day weekend with a picnic and leisurely day at Lotherton Hall Wartime Weekend, complete with vintage singers and military re-enactors to take you back to the 1940s. There will be craft activities for kids, outdoor games! You can also enjoy the gardens, playground and Wildlife World during your visit.
6. RHS Harlow Carr
Celebrate Father’s Day with a walk in the garden with Dad. Maybe even treat him to a fat rascal at Bettys Café Tea Rooms next door. Children can enjoy a run around in the adventure playgrounds and open spaces. Harlow Carr is a great place to spend a day with the family of all ages.
