Take a step back in time and unearth secrets from the land that time forgot at RHS Garden Harlow Carr this summer. Families can embark on a Jurassic journey around the garden on a daily garden trail, discover habitats rich in Jurassic plants such as ferns and monkey puzzle trees and meet pre-historic creatures including giant insects.
Watch out for dinosaur eggs, huge footprints and make sure you don’t step in the dinosaur poo! Visitors will be greeted by a 7ft willow stegosaurus made by North Yorkshire-based willow sculptors from Dragon Willow. Other willow dinosaurs can be found hiding out in the woodland: look out for a huge diplodocus and see if you can spot the pterodactyl flying through the trees near the Craggle Top Treehouse. Budding palaeontologists can dress up as explorers and take part in a fossil dig to find dinosaur teeth, bones and claws.

3. Mother Shipton’s Robin Hood Summer Adventure
Robin Hood will be in the park during the summer holidays, perhaps there is a champion archer amongst you. Defeat the villainous Sheriff of Nottingham and help unite Maid Marion with her true love.
As you walk through magical woodland props and characters will bring the legend alive. Actors will be stationed as characters in the park to interact with children and help families complete a themed adventure quiz sheet.

4. Thornton Hall Country Park – Summer Holiday Fun
It’s all about fun on the farm this summer at Thornton Hall! Alongside the traditional Farm fun Thornton Hall are joined by special guests all summer long! From Superheros to Fairies, the Circus to critters there is something for everybody!

5. National Coal Mining Museum – Seaside @ Pit
Travel 140m underground with a miner as your guide on one of the unique tours, explore the museum, exhibitions and original colliery building, visit the stableyard and meet the horses, pit ponies and horsekeepers.
Outdoors you can climb and play on the adventure playground, explore the nature trail and take the ‘Seaside Special’ train ride to Hope Pit and visit the beach!

6. Eureka- The BIG Summer Festival
Visit Eureka this summer for a festival of tech, science, performance and play, including Fusion: Adventures in digital art, a new exhibition featuring some of the best digital art from around the globe.
Kids (and grown-ups) can try their hand at coding, animation, Minecraft and more with a changing programme of hands-on tech activities and workshops. Activities include everything from making alien slime to light-painting, learning about DNA to getting ship-shape with the Eureka! Pirates. There will also be regular visits on different dates from an array of performers.

7. Royal Armouries Museum – Summer of the Sword
Discover the Royal Armouries amazing swords collection, from ancient Roman and Viking weapons to bejewelled modern-day treasures.
Daily activities will include demonstrations by skilful sword masters and makers, storytelling and hands on history sessions, plus have-a-go workshops.

8. Stockeld Park Summer Adventure
Enjoy the enchanted forest and adventure playgrounds, magical maze, inflatable play, go-karts, roller skating, Buccaneer boats (additional charge), den building with the Stockeld Rangers and indoor play and crafts this summer holiday.

9. Studfold Fairy and Pixie Adventure Trail
The summer visitors to Studfold will be able to discover over 20 fairy houses as they follow the adventure trail and discover the code that will unlock the entrance gate to the new ‘Two Stone Wishes’ woodland fairy village.
As young explorers venture into the woodland they can imagine life for the little folk living in the ornate wooden houses in the village as they read the accompanying panels that tell a fairy tale entitled ‘Daniel and the Messles’
From the giant storytelling chair, children can find out whether Daniel can save the fairies and pixies! Children are encouraged to get in the spirit by wearing their own mythical sprite outfit, or they can borrow fairy wings and pixie hats from the on-site shop!

10. York Maze
As well as the maze (Jurassic themed for 2018!) there are over 20 rides attractions and shows for all ages, including a large sand and water adventure playground, three exhilarating tube slides, birds of prey centre and the House of Cornfusion where rooms magically begin to shrink, fall over, and even turn upside down! You can also watch the amazing racing pigs, get a soaking in “Angry Crows”, take the tractor and trailer ride to experience Crowmania or watch the new Crowbot 5000 show.
