Enjoy the glorious colours and fresh autumn air, kicking up the leaves and collecting conkers in the Woodland and exploring our new sculpture trail. Young imaginations can run wild in the Logness Monster and Craggle Top Tree House play areas. Why not finish your day out with treats and hot drinks from Betty’s Café?
In order to effectively manage social distancing measures, we’re asking all visitors and members to pre-book a time slot ahead of their visit. We ask that everyone visiting Harlow Carr please familiarise themselves with the latest Government advice, avoid meeting in groups greater than six, unless they are part of the same household or support bubble and maintain social distancing of at least 2 metres from people outside of your household.
Are you ready to be bewitched at Mother Shipton’s this Halloween? You’re in for a treat!
Suitable for all ages, explore the spooky forest and Halloween Haunted Village, but watch out for witches, ghosts and creepy skeletons around every corner! There’s lots of ghoulish fun to be had with photo opportunities and fancy dress competitions. Our competitions will be slightly different this year, with virtual catwalks and prizes awarded digitally.
See the incredible Petrifying Well and the birthplace of a real witch at Mother Shipton’s Cave! The park has scenic picnic areas alongside the popular River Nidd, an adventure playground, gift shop and museum.

Soak up the autumn light on a stroll from Fountains Abbey to Studley Royal Water Garden. The dramatic abbey ruins at Fountains are the largest monastic ruins in the country. Step back into a rich and dramatic past and imagine what life would have been like for the monks who first came here all those years ago. You’ve explored the abbey and now it’s time for the water garden.
Autumn is a colourful time of year in Studley Royal water garden. Follow the gentle banks of the river skell down from the abbey to the garden, which has been channelled into canals, cascades and tranquil moon ponds. There is a real sense of peace on this walk.

Stockeld Park is nature’s playground, where nothing is quite as it seems! With magical surprises at every turn, this is a place to spark even the wildest of imaginations! There’s loads of spooky fun to be had when Halloween arrives at Stockeld Park this October half term including pumpkin picking, real witches in the Enchanted Forest, Spooky Maze and more!
Every child with a paid-for ticket will get to choose their pumpkin for FREE!

Enter at your own risk through the giant spooky gates at the start of Strid Wood. Follow our trail of over-sized pumpkins through Strid Wood and discover the mystery doors hidden among the trees. Behind each door is a clue to help unravel the witch’s magical spell. With a fun surprise awaiting you at The Strid, it will be worth the journey to get there!

Diggerland is the perfect place to go for an action-packed family day out. Experience the variety of rides and drives on offer – whether it’s testing your driving skills on a Dumper Truck, hanging tight on the world-famous Spindizzy ride, or hooking a duck using the controls of a digger all whilst sitting in the cab, there really is something for all ages!

The Deep crew have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure government guidelines are adhered to, offering a safe and clean environment for visitors to enjoy. Noticeable changes will include new opening times of 9am- 6pm (last entry 5pm) on weekends and school holidays (10am – 6pm Monday – Friday during term time), directional signage, hand sanitising stations and timed ticket slots which will require pre-booking on-line.
Meet Wizards (one you may recognise), Witches and other Halloween characters. Trick or Treat to receive some sweets. Don your best Halloween costume to enter the Costume competition (best child and best adult costume of the carriage). Enjoy some spooky colouring-in activities and games while on the train. And try your hand at becoming a Wiard in the magical Wizard training.
